This Halloween, Bayshire’s Vista Gardens and Shadowridge communities were filled with costumes, candy, and heartwarming connections as young trick-or-treaters from Monte Vista Elementary School visited the residents. Dressed as cheerleaders, scarecrows, and superheroes, the first and third graders brought festive cheer to residents, stopping at candy stations around Vista Gardens’ putting green. For many residents, like Franeva Kellogg, who greeted students in monarch butterfly wings, the visit was a delightful way to celebrate the season and share in the joy of Halloween with a younger generation.
The event went beyond Halloween treats, sparking meaningful connections that organizers hope will become a lasting tradition. The students had even prepared for the visit by reading a story about friendship with elders, helping them understand and appreciate the seniors they were about to meet. Nicole Lopez from Bayshire noted that such interactions are valuable for both the children and the residents, especially for those who may not have family nearby.
